MIL-HDBK-1908B
FOREWORD
1. This Military Handbook is approved for use by all Departments and Agencies of the Department of Defense.
2. This handbook is for guidance only. This handbook cannot be cited as a requirement. If it is, the contractor does not have to comply.
3. The goals of this handbook are to eliminate definition overlap, duplication, and conflict and to minimize the length of human factors (HFAC) standardization documents; therefore, as HFAC
documents have been revised, their definitions were dropped in favor of citing this handbook.
4. While this handbook focuses on definitions of human factors terms, definitions of some non-human factors terms herein have been adopted from MIL-HDBK-505 since they are used very frequently in HFAC documents that, typically, have cited MIL-HDBK-505 or used terms that harmonize with those in MIL-HDBK-505.
5. Beneficial comments (recommendations, additions, deletions) and any pertinent data which
may be of use in improving this document should be addressed to Commander, U.S. Army
Aviation and Missile Command, ATTN: AMSAM-RD-SE-TD-ST, Redstone Arsenal, AL
35898-5000 by
using the Standardization Document Improvement Proposal (DD Form 1426) appearing at the end of this document or by letter.
